JUNIOR/ASSISTANT SPECIALIST, SOCIAL AND BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SCIENCES, MATERNAL AND CHILD HEALTH CERTIFICATE PROGRAM,

Department of Public Health Sciences, John A. Burns School of Medicine.

Position # 0082486T, 0.5-1.0 FTE, 11-month, temporary non-tenurable, extramural and general funds, pending position clearance and availability of funds. Continuance and level of FTE dependent on performance and availability of funds.

Duties: Under the direction of the MCH Certificate Director, the Junior/Assistant Specialist is responsible for the Maternal and Child Health Certificate (MCH) program implementation and development with particular attention to distance learning and outreach activities, teaching, and student advising. He/she will contribute to MCH certificate program community service and participate in efforts to increase certificate resources. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: For Junior Specialist, a Masters degree from a college or university of recognized standing, with major work in health-related field; one year experience as an assistant/coordinator, in the field of Maternal and Child health or related areas; some knowledge of Maternal and Child health. For Assistant Specialist, a Masters degree plus 30 credits of graduate study from a college or university of recognized standing in a health-related field. At least 3 years of experience in the area of MCH or related field at the next lower rank or its equivalent. Knowledge of the field of maternal and child health. Poise and good address for meeting and conferring with others.

Desired Qualifications: Skills in health needs assessment, program planning and evaluation, policy development, and evidence-based interventions. Experience working in multi-cultural communities and with health departments, private and public community agencies in a multicultural environment. Familiarity with U.S.-Associated Pacific Islands populations. Track-record of funded projects.
